Dressing for the weather
Please send your child with a jacket that is warm and protects against rain. We will be outside most days, rain or shine, and we want to make sure students are protected from the weather. On colder days, also having Hope jogging pants for PE is helpful or outside recess time.
Orange Shirt Day and National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
This week our teachers will be spending some time educating our students in regards to what Orange Shirt Day is, and the purpose of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation (September 30). As this day falls on a Saturday we will be remembering it in two ways. This Friday, students can dress down in an orange shirt to recognize the experience of those who went to Indian residential schools, to honour them, and show a collective commitment to ensure that Every Child Matters. On Monday, there is no school in lieu of the statutory day falling on a Saturday.
Middle School Soccer Team
On October 4, 2023, we have a Grade 6/7 CoEd Soccer Tournament at BCAA. Thank you to those who expressed interest in the Athletics form. If you still would like your child to participate, please email Mr. Shutsa directly. We have a few more spots available.
LEST
On Tues Oct 10 will be having a ZOOM Meeting for all Middle School Parents. Mr. Shutsa will be discussing LEST – our annual activity tournament down at Pacific Lutheran University in Washington State! We look forward to seeing you at 7pm over ZOOM. A link will be sent closer to the date.

KM Club is looking for one volunteer:
We are looking for one detail-oriented parent to help us with data entry. The volunteer would need to be present at each last run of the week (typically Friday, but it might be Wednesday in case of pro-d days), wait til the end of the counting to take home the folders, transfer the week’s runs to a spreadsheet and return the folders on Monday. This usually takes no more than 1h of time but is a perfect combination with counting at the end of Friday’s run (another volunteer opportunity). Interested volunteers can reach out to Maik at 604.315.8446 or
Yearbook 2022/23
We have a number of yearbooks from last year at the elementary school and that it is available on a first come first serve basis for $25.
Parent Prayer
You are welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.
We’ll meet outside at the Elementary Campus by the main entrance.
Every Monday from 8:45 – 9:15 am (except for holidays).
Our School’s New Website
We are excited to announce that the school’s website has undergone an extensive makeover during the summer. We hope that it’ll bring a fresh look and make it more user friendly for our school community and other online users.
We invite you to explore the new website at https://school.hopelcs.ca/ and share it with your friends.
Parents should note the following pages that will be particularly important and useful:
- Under the Resources menu, you will be able to find our school calendars, Monday Notes, Parent participation opportunities and other general information such as school supplies and uniforms.
- The Absence Reporting form is now located under the Connect menu.
- Information about our Bursary Program for new students is found under the Admissions menu.
We hope you’ll enjoy using the new website.
BC Lions Hope Community Event
Hi Hope Families,
Come on out for a night of football, faith, and community building! We have secured a special group rate for the BC Lions’ game against the Calgary Stampeders on October 20th (7:00 p.m.). We chose this night because it is the BC Lions’ Faith and Family Night event.
The special event will include meeting a few players and the team’s chaplain after the football game. Please see this Information Document to assist with how to purchase tickets and THIS LINK to purchase the tickets.
This is a great opportunity for our school members and church members to meet and strengthen our Hope community. Feel free to invite your friends and family to join us.
For planning purposes please purchase tickets by Friday, October 6.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Chris Anderson at
Look forward to seeing everyone there!
