Open House Parent Volunteers
Our school will be hosting the first Open House of the school year at the elementary school on Thursday, October 17 from 6:30 – 8:00pm. Here are some great opportunities to get involved and accumulate some volunteer hours SIGN UP.
Open House
Parents, we’ve learned from our admissions interviews that an overwhelming majority of our applicants come to our school because of word-of-mouth recommendations from our school community. We are thankful that you are our best advertisers!
Do you know of a family ready to explore education options for their child? Do you have friends or family looking for a school that offers more than just an academic education, one that you can call home?
Please forward this digital information sheet and encourage them to check out The Hope Difference at our upcoming Open House on Thursday, October 17 from 6:30 – 8:00pm.
Upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences
Our first formal connection point – Parent Teacher Conferences is coming up next week on Thursday, October 24. These are scheduled times to meet with your child(ren)’s teachers to discuss their progress so far. An email will be coming home today with instructions on how to set up your account before the appointment booking system opens – Thursday, October 17. The booking system closes on Wednesday, October 23 at 12:00 pm.
Updated Cell Phone and Technology Policy
This school year, BC Schools were required to implement cell phone policies that promote student mental health, and limit how much time students use their phones during the school day. We have included our updated cell phone policy with our laptop/technology policy in our Parent Handbooks, which can be found on the school’s website. You may also read through the policy HERE.
Caribou Math Contest
Hope Lutheran Christian School recognizes the diverse learning needs of some of our math students. This year Middle School will be participating in the Caribou Math Contest. It is a worldwide online mathematics contest that is held at various points throughout the year. The goal of these contests are to help provide challenging math activities for grades 3 to 12 students and show that math puzzles and problem-solving can be fun.
If you decide to permit your child to participate in this program, he/she may need to practice at home for the contests. On the contest days, your child will take a 60-minute online test during the school day. The use of calculators is not permitted for this program. The student’s test results are available on the Caribou Contests website. For more information regarding the program please refer to the Caribou Contests website at www.cariboutests.com.
