Grade 5 Candy Gram Fundraiser
Our Grade 5’s will be organizing their first fundraiser for their year-end celebration – candy grams for Valentine’s Day. For $2, students can purchase candy grams for classmates, friends, or big/little buddies and the candy grams will be delivered by our very own Grade 5’s on Valentine’s Day at the elementary school campus, and before Valentine’s Day at the middle school campus (due to LEST). The candies in the candy grams will be individually wrapped. The candy gram sheets will be going out to the students by January 21st and the deadline for the submission of the candy gram sheets will be on January 31st. Badminton Winter/Spring 2025
Dear Parents,
We’re excited to share some updates for the upcoming Winter and Spring sessions. First off, the students may be delighted to know there will be fewer bunny hops and we will focus more heavily on racket skills! All classes will have the opportunity to earn points towards a year-end pizza party, and this includes all students who have registered anytime during the entire school year.
- Schedule Changes:
Mondays will be added to the Spring season
- Team Tryouts for Grades 6 & 7:
We will be hosting tryouts during this Winter season to form a team for the Grades 6 and 7 students to participate in the CESS tournament in April. If your child is not currently registered for afterschool lessons but wishes to take part in the tryouts, please email Coach Ken directly – there is no cost to tryouts and tournament participation
- Grade 8 Tournament Opportunity:
There is a tournament exclusively for Grade 8 students this year and tryouts will begin soon! If we can form a team, this will be a fantastic opportunity for them to represent our school and compete!
I strongly encourage middle school students to join this Winter season to better prepare for these exciting tournaments. It’s a wonderful chance to develop their skills, build teamwork, and experience the thrill of competition.

Understanding, Supporting and Connecting with Teens with Depression – Tricities FamilySmart
When our teens are struggling with depression, we can feel lost about how to best support them. How do we know when they are experiencing a mental health challenge and when should we intervene? Join us to learn from Karen Peters, Registered Clinical Counsellor, and Victoria Keddis, a parent with lived experience, about how depression shows up in teens and ways of journeying with them through it. Come together with other families to watch this video presentation, which will be followed by a facilitated discussion by a FamilySmart Parent Peer Support Worker.
Date/Time:
- Tuesday, January 28th at 6:30 pm (PST)
What to do next:
- RSVP – Please let us know you are coming! Register here: familysmart.ca/events. The Zoom link will be sent to you with your confirmation email.
- ONE-ON-ONE – If these times/dates don’t work for you OR you would like to talk one-on-one with a Parent Peer Support Worker, we are happy to meet with you at a time that works for your schedule.
