Grade 5 Candy Gram Fundraiser
Our Grade 5’s will be organizing their first fundraiser for their year-end celebration – candy grams for Valentine’s Day. For $2, students can purchase candy grams for classmates, friends, or big/little buddies and the candy grams will be delivered by our very own Grade 5’s on Valentine’s Day at the elementary school campus, and before Valentine’s Day at the middle school campus (due to LEST). The candies in the candy grams will be individually wrapped. The candy gram sheets will be going out to the students by January 21st and the deadline for the submission of the candy gram sheets will be on January 31st. Please help support our Grade 5 year-end celebration by purchasing candy grams.
Board of Governance News
The Board of Governance is pleased to announce that we have appointed Ron Donkersloot as the chair of our new transitional school board. Ron comes with over 40 years of experience working in education, many of those years having been spent in Christian schools. Establishing this school board is another step in the process towards creating an independent society for Hope Lutheran Christian School; it is an important step in preparation for the upcoming church congregational vote on the creation of a new school society. A next step will be finding additional board members to join Ron on the board. In the meantime, if you have any questions about this, please don’t hesitate to contact Danny Nagtegaal ().

Middle School Choir
Hello, middle school students. I’ve heard that some of you (not all) are missing choir classes, and wishing you had an opportunity to sing. Well, now is your chance. Ms. Allen is starting an afterschool choir just for middle school students. If you are interested, please fill out this form so I know when I can run rehearsals. I would like to get started in the week of January 20. Any questions, please talk to Ms. Allen.
Reminders from the School Office
- We’ve noticed that there seems to be some backsliding with regards to students and their uniforms. Please ensure that you send your child to school in their proper uniform. Please note that “proper uniform” includes their uniform pants/skirts (as opposed to jogging pants/cargo pants) and black shoes. Not having proper shoes is the most notable “uniform offence”, and we’d like to work together to be more consistent in ensuring that students are showing up and wearing their proper uniform.
- Additionally, we have noticed a slow increase in the amount of “lates” that are occurring. Please be reminded that students are to be at the middle campus and in their classrooms by 8:15 am, and students are to be at the elementary campus by 8:50 am. Thanks for your continued support and partnership with us as we equip your child to impact the world for Christ’s glory!
