Volunteer Opportunities – 2024/2025 School Year
1. Spots still open for the May Day parade on Saturday, May 10th. This is our biggest advertising opportunity for our school and we need a few more MS students and parents representing our school and helping to hand out promo cards advertising our upcoming open house. Please sign up to participate: May Day Parade Participation. Ice cream treats for all participants at the end of the parade!!!
2. KM Club Needs Help! We’re already halfway through the spring run — Thank you to all the runners and volunteers for your incredible support! As we look ahead, we could really use some extra hands, especially for stamping and spotting roles in the upcoming weeks. These positions are essential to keeping everything running smoothly.
If you have a bit of time to spare, we would be so grateful if you could sign up to help. Every bit makes a difference, and your involvement means the world to us — and to everyone participating.
Thank you again for being such an important part of this community. We’re so lucky to have you with us!
3. Chess Tournament Volunteers Needed – April 30th 2025 After school @ elementary campus

6. Parent Prayer leadership for 2025/26 school year – a parent is needed to take over the leadership of the weekly parent prayer. This group meets once a week for 15-30 minutes (this year on Monday’s after morning dropoff) to lift the school and its community in prayer. Prayer requests are provided by the school administration. This is a simple yet important way to contribute to our school and gain volunteer time. Please speak with Lisa Klym if you are interested ().
Chess Tournament
This is the last call to sign up for the HLCS-only in-person chess tournament this Wednesday, April 30th! All chess club members are encouraged to join! Sign-up ends Tuesday at midnight.
You do not need to stay with your student during this time, you may drop them off and come back closer to the end of the tournament.

Emergency Student Release May 6th
In order to prepare for emergencies, we conduct a variety of drills throughout the school year. On top of our usual fire, earthquake, and lockdown drills this year, we will be doing an Emergency Release Drill. This drill is designed to practice what it would look like if we needed to dismiss all our students after an emergency, such as an earthquake. It is important to ensure that your emergency contacts are up to date before our release date (Tuesday, May 6th). If you need to review your emergency contact information, you may reach out to our office at .
All relevant information can be found in the following 2 links:
Track and Field Information – Grades 4 to 7
The Track and Field event will take place on May 1st.
The events for the track meet are as follows:
- Grade 4 & 5: 50m run, 400m run, softball throw, long jump, high jump
- Grade 6 & 7: 100m run, 800m run, 6 lb shot put, long jump, high jump
Each student will participate in all 5 events.
Please submit the permission form at the link below:
Please note that all Grade 4-7 homeroom teachers will be attending the track meet. If your child will not be participating and you have not granted them permission to attend, we kindly ask that they remain at home for the day.
We’ve received a few questions regarding the long jump and high jump events. While we do not have the necessary facilities to run these events in practice, we will still be teaching proper techniques and providing instruction on both.
We understand that the setup may not be ideal, but the primary goal of this track meet is to create a positive, inclusive environment where students can enjoy friendly competition, build friendships, and connect with peers from other local Christian schools.
However, if your child has concerns—particularly about the high jump—and would prefer not to participate in that event, they are welcome to speak with their teacher on the day.
Please rest assured that no student will be required to compete in this event if they are uncomfortable with it, though we do encourage everyone to try their best.
All students will have the opportunity to participate in five events, including both running and field activities.
