Volunteer Opportunities – 2024/2025 School Year
1. KM Club Volunteers – KM Club needs more volunteers! Especially the important set-up and cleanup/counter positions are still vacant. We cannot run this event without your help!
Not only is this a great way to collect volunteer hours for the year while supervising your children during the run, you also collect points for your child’s class to win a free pizza lunch at the end of the term.
Volunteer descriptions and registration can be found in the sign-up link.
Updated Cell Phone and Technology Policy
This school year, BC Schools were required to implement cell phone policies that promote student mental health, and limit how much time students use their phones during the school day. We have included our updated cell phone policy with our laptop/technology policy in our Parent Handbooks, which can be found on the school’s website. You may also read through the policy HERE.
Remembrance Day Assembly
Next week the Elementary School will hold a Remembrance Day Assembly. More details to come in next week’s Monday Note.
Just prior to the assembly each student will be provided with a poppy to wear. It is suggested that a small donation be made for the poppy, but is not required. Next week donation boxes for the poppies will be in the classrooms.
Hyde Creek Education Centre & Hatchery Fall Tour
Many of our students and their families are familiar with the Hyde Creek Education Centre & Hatchery as it is a field trip destination during the grade 2 school year.
The Hyde Creek Education Centre & Hatchery Fall Tour, which is open to the public, is coming up in November. See THIS FLYER for more information.
A Special Message From the Library Liaison Team
Dear Parents,
As you know, our mission is to help build a better Library for our School Community.
For our first initiative, we would like to bring back an old Hope Lutheran School Tradition:
Birthday Book Donation!
On your child’s special day please feel free to donate his/her beloved book to our school library. We will put the book on display for the month with a special label inside in honour of their birthday!
Thank you for helping our Library grow!
Terry Fox Run
Once again, thank you to everyone who came together to raise funds and awareness for Cancer research. Terry united the country 44 years ago with his dream of a world without cancer. Our school has united this year to carry on Terry’s legacy and we should all be proud of the difference we are making. Together, we made a difference!
We raised $3426. Thank you for all your support.
Dough Raiser fundraiser with Cobs Bread
Are you looking to purchase bread or treats from the Oxford location of Cobs Bread? Anyone who buys something at the Oxford Cobs Bread location just has to say they are a part of Hope Lutheran Christian School and 5% of their total transaction gets put aside for our school. This is an ongoing fundraiser.

Equipping Parents Seminar #2
Join us on Monday, November 18th at 7pm for an important seminar on protecting children from exploitation in Canada. For our 2nd seminar in our Equipping Parents series, our speaker from Ally Global will introduce The Prevention Project, an engaging, online platform offering free, age-appropriate resources designed to help youth understand the dangers of exploitation. You’ll gain insights into the risks children face online and in everyday life, as well as practical tools to help you recognize warning signs and start crucial conversations at home.
Whether you’re attending in person or via livestream, this session will equip you with the knowledge and strategies needed to engage in these important conversations with your kids. From setting boundaries to recognizing red flags to promoting safe online habits, this seminar is a must for parents who want to create safer, more informed environments for their children.
We look forward to seeing you there! A minimum of 10 people in-person is appreciated so our speaker isn’t presenting to an empty room. Please register your attendance.
Parent Prayer
You are invited and welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.
We meet at the Elementary Campus every Monday from 8:45 – 9:15 am (except for holidays).
PTL Meeting Sept. 12, 2024
It was awesome to meet you online through Zoom! In total we have 106 attendees who joined our first PTL Meeting in 2025-206 School Year. We have shared lots of important information in the meeting. The PTL Meeting minutes Sept 12-24 is ready for your review. Please email if you would like to review the meeting recording, the link and access password will be shared upon request.
Term 2 Refund Cheques

KM Club
We are almost finished the fall 7-week run/walk around McLean Park Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays from 3:20 – 3:50 pm, which started Monday, September 16th and will end this Friday, November 1st. The events take place immediately after school, with warm up starting at 3:10 pm and runs starting at 3:20 pm sharp at McLean Park. Participants must register. If you missed the registration period please contact Maik Hassel at 604.315.8446 or with any questions.
This fall, we are trying something NEW: While the students earn “Milestone Tokens”, parents have the opportunity to earn their kids’ class a free Pizza Lunch at the end of the term!
Parents can earn participation points by volunteering at the KM club or running/walking a minimum of three laps during the club. The class with the highest parent participation points at the end of the term will receive a free pizza lunch!
Km Club is open to all students, staff, parents, caretakers, and daycare children. Parents or caretakers must be at McLean Park to supervise their child/children during Km Club. However, while supervising your child you may want to run or walk yourself, or you can volunteer.
Volunteering for Km Club counts towards volunteer hours and there are volunteer opportunities before, during, and after KM Club. Please see the volunteer descriptions and the volunteer sign-up link in the Volunteer Opportunities section of this Monday Note.
Please contact Maik Hassel at 604.315.8446 or with any questions.
