Volunteer Opportunities – 2023/2024 School Year
1. Staff Appreciation Lunch – come help us serve lunch to all our Hope Lutheran Teachers and Staff on Friday May 31st from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm. We need volunteers to help set up, serve food and clean up.

2. Middle School Mixer – Friday, June 7, 2024 4:00 to 6:00pm
Please make sure you drop off all food donations by 3:00 pm at the elementary school kitchen.

3. PTL Year-end BBQ lunch on June 19 – The PTL hosts a BBQ lunch on the last day of school at the elementary school campus. We need 3-4 parents for the 2024 Year-end BBQ committee. The committee will help with volunteer signup form design, order form summary, grocery planning and event coordination. If you are interested in helping please email PTL at for more information.

Music Concert – Tuesday, May 28, and Wednesday, May 29
This week is our Spring Music Concerts. All students are expected to attend, and all families are welcome to come get a taste of what has been happening in music classes this year.
Both concerts will take place in the Chapel of the elementary campus.
May 28, Tuesday night, we welcome Kindergarten A+B+C, Grades 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A+B, and Grade 8 Band.
May 29, Wednesday night, we welcome Grades 1A+B+C, 2B, 3B, 4B, along with Band classes from Grade 6A, 6/7, and 7A.
Concert starts at 6:30 pm, with doors opening for students at 6:15 pm. Students are expected to come in formal uniform, stay for the duration of the concert, and be signed out from their classrooms when leaving.
Come listen, enjoy, and maybe even sing along.
Hope Lutheran Church 2024 Post Secondary Bursary Application
Hope Lutheran Church wishes to support Christian post-secondary education by offering a bursary of up to $1000 to young adults who have had a connection to Hope Lutheran Church or School and are accepted to a post secondary Christian institution such as Trinity Western University in Langley, BC; Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute in Camrose, AB or other institutions offering Christian Studies.
Applicants may re-apply in subsequent years.

Jump Rope for Heart
Our school is excited to participate in Jump Rope for Heart this year during the week of June 10th-14th! Students will discover fun ways to get active, practice healthy habits and learn about helping others while raising money to beat heart disease and stroke!

Dough Raiser fundraiser with Cobs Bread
Are you looking to purchase bread or treats from Cobs Bread (the Oxford location)? Anyone who buys something at the Oxford Cobs Bread location just has to say they are a part of Hope Lutheran Christian School and 5% of their total transaction gets put aside for our school. This is an ongoing fundraiser until the end of the school year
Hope Lutheran Church Sponsored – Bible Information Meetings for Adults
Bible Information Classes are up and running. They are open to everyone, and they are designed for those who wish to learn more about the teachings and practices of the Christian Faith and the Lutheran Church. At the end of the program, those who aren’t members and would like to join us at Hope Lutheran Church can be received as new members of the Congregation. Hope Lutheran Junior Youth
Junior Youth is a ministry of Hope Lutheran Church for students in Grades 5 – 8, connecting students with Jesus and one another.

Parent Prayer
You are welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.
We meet in the chapel at the Elementary Campus.
Every Monday from 8:45 – 9:15 am (except for holidays).

Term 1 Parent Participation Hours
Term 1 Refund Cheques now available for pick up with Mrs. Klassen at the elementary school campus. If you partially completed your Term 1 hours and expecting a refund that’s you! Please pick up immediately!
Hope Community Prayer
Our next evening of prayer is tomorrow, Tuesday, May 28th, 7:30 pm at the Elementary Campus. The group will likely meet outside to not conflict with the music concert.
Used Uniform Sale – Monday, June 17
A used uniform sale will be held on Monday, June 17th at 8:30 am and 2:30 pm at the Elementary Campus. Parents are encouraged to sort through their uniform pieces now and determine what they will and will not need for next school year. All sellers are responsible for their own items.
This is a date change from June 14th to not conflict with the MS Talent Show happening on the 14th.

Please note the slide mentioning revision to the bylaws has been removed from the meeting minutes. It was an unintentional error and there is no change to the Bylaws (last approved in Apr 2023). Apologies for any confusion.

Submissions are open for the June newsletter. If you have an achievement to celebrate or a story to share, please let us know. What about a service project where you are being a light to your community? This is the final newsletter of the school year.
Additionally, think ahead to the September newsletter. Will you be participating in anything over the summer that you’d like to write about?
