1. Do you like to Run? Swim? Bike? Do you want to get involved in providing an amazing opportunity to get our kids moving and participate in a unique sport and community event? Then this is the volunteer opportunity for you!
Hope is looking for 5-6 AMAZING parent volunteers to organize/guide/support Hope’s students at this year’s Spirit Triathlon that will be held Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Hyde Creek Recreation Center in Port Coquitlam. The parent volunteers would be involved in the coordination of relay teams and managing the Hope Triathlon team on the big day. Volunteers are equipped with the step by step checklist, guide and Spirit Triathlon mentor to walk through the steps from promotion to race day.
It is open to students in grades 2-5. Students can join a relay team or compete individually. This event is for students of all abilities – you don’t need to be an athlete to complete a triathlon!

Open House Event – May 14
We’ve learned from our admissions interviews that an overwhelming majority of our applicants come to our school because of word-of-mouth recommendations from our school community. We are thankful that you are our best advertisers.
Do you know of a family ready to explore education options for their child? Do you have friends or family looking for a school that offers more than just an academic education, one that you can call home? Let them know of our upcoming Open House Event, Tuesday, May 14, 6:30 – 8:00 pm, taking place at the Elementary School campus. You can pass along this digital information card and LINK for families to register to attend the Open House Event.
K-5 In-School Chess Tournament
Attention Chess Club members: There will be an in-school chess tournament May 15th – 17th for Grades K-5 during the lunch blocks. Please sign up with Mr. Anderson, room 203 (2B), to reserve a spot in the tournament. Again, this is only for Hope students that are already a part of the Hope Chess Club. If you have any questions, please talk to Mr. Payan or Mr. Anderson.
CAT4/CCAT Testing
Starting this week, May 13th, until May 24th, standardized testing will be carried out. Grades K, 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 8 students will be tested during class time (Grades 4 and 7 already completed a standardized test in the fall – the FSAs). Results will be shared with parents once received, typically around the end of the school year. Please ensure your child is well rested and has a healthy breakfast so they can be ready to do their best work. These tests help to guide teachers and the school in our program offerings and identify areas needing support.
Sports Day
Sports Day, for gr. K – 8, will be happening on Friday, May 24th. This is a fun-filled day where students participate in different relay games with their classmates in the morning and compete against another class with the tug-of-war. Parents are more than welcome to come cheer on students and/or volunteer for different tasks during the day. For more information, please click on THIS LINK.
Scholastic May/June Flyer
The May/June flyer will be distributed this week. Click the following link for the digital version. Don’t forget to apply our school’s Class Code: RC131640 at checkout. We deeply value your continuous support in promoting literacy and igniting a love for reading among our students.
Jump Rope for Heart
