Extreme Weather Closures:
As we are experiencing some winter weather, please note the following important information regarding Hope Lutheran Christian School closures due to extreme/inclement weather:
- The decision to close (full day or partial day/late start) the School due to extreme weather will be made by 7:00 AM, on the day of the closure, so families can make alternate arrangements.
- The announcement will be posted as quickly as possible on our Facebook page and our school website. Do not phone the school, as staff will not be available.
- The decision will be made taking into consideration the safety of our families and staff, and the School’s ability to operate normally, and will be based on the best information available at the time.
- Any extreme weather closures will automatically apply to both campuses, and Schola Bohemia – Before and After School Care.
- Hope Lutheran’s extreme weather closures may not be the same as the local School Districts’ closures.
- Winter weather can change quickly, therefore, when the School remains open, all decisions regarding travel to and from the School are the responsibility of each family.

Ash Wednesday Chapel
February 18th: Ash Wednesday marks the start of the Season of Lent and is a significant date in the Christian calendar. To observe it, we will hold a special Chapel Devotion at 9:00 AM, and parents are warmly invited to join our K-8 students. The service will include worship songs, a brief message explaining the day’s significance, and the tradition of placing ashes on the forehead led by Pastor Lucas. We look forward to beginning this season of reflection together!

100 Cans by 100 Days
As part of their Foundational Learning Experiences (FLEx) in Term 2, the Kindergarteners are working toward collecting 100 cans of dog and cat food by the 100th day of school (February 17). These donations will be given to a local animal shelter to support animals in our community. We invite our whole school community to help us reach this goal. Any donations are greatly appreciated and can be given to Mrs. Stiles (KA) or Mrs. Mendoza (KB). The Kindergarteners are excited to show kindness by caring for God’s creatures in this practical way.
Genesis 1:28: God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Scholastic Book Club January/February Flyer
This month’s flyer has been distributed. You can also view the digital version online. On their website, you’ll find an even wider selection of titles, especially for older grade students up to Grade 6, so we encourage families to explore it. Don’t forget to use our school’s Class Code: RC131640 at checkout for free shipping to the school. Thank you for supporting literacy and inspiring a love of reading in our students.
We’re excited to highlight Storyvoice– Scholastic’s free platform for live read-alouds with authors and illustrators.
