Hamper Drive Assembly – looking for 3 volunteers to help sort and arrange donations for the Christmas Hamper Drive. December 8th, Friday, at 9:00 am Elementary School

2.Bethlehem Walk Refreshment Donations & Service – Looking for volunteers to bake treats for both Bethlehem Walk evenings as well as parents who can help serve Hot Chocolate and treats. Please read the description of sign up in full detail to know how many PPH hours translates to each sign up.

Term 1 Reports Issued – Wednesday, December 6

Report cards will be going home with all students on Wednesday, December 6. Please remember to return the envelope and green slip of paper (signed and dated) to your classroom teacher next week (December 11 – 15).

Bethlehem Walk: Production Information

We are excited to once again host our Bethlehem Walk Christmas Event! This event is for our school community but is also a wonderful outreach to our Port Coquitlam community at large. Students (K-8) will be assigned roles and shifts. Please look for a green slip of paper coming home with your child’s name, role, and shifts checked on the slip. Information about costumes and what to expect for drop-off and pick up will be communicated at a later date.

Bethlehem Walk: Ways to Help

In order for our event to run smoothly we will need the support of our parent community in a variety of different ways.

Prop gathering – Please see THIS LIST and if you have any of the items listed, please reach out to the teacher(s) in charge of the scene on whether it is a good fit and if it is still in need, or already provided.
Lumber – We are in need of lumber to use for the stable creation, but will not be keeping it afterwards. If you have lumber you’d like to donate to this please contact .
Stable building/creation – On Monday, December 18th, in the morning we will need a work crew to help create our outdoor stable scene. This should take a couple hours and we hope to have it completed by the afternoon, so our students can practice in the scene. If you are able to come and help please contact Ken Youck –
Snack provision and kitchen help – communication from the PTL will come shortly for this ask.

Mr. Mayer Wrote A Book!

Did you know that Mr. Mayer wrote a children’s book!? It’s true! Leroy the Raccoon is a book about friendship beyond a first impression. The story is interactive as Leroy asks the reader a variety of questions – a perfect book for parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts to enjoy with children. If you would like a copy, feel free to talk to Mr. Mayer or you can make a purchase by clicking THIS LINK. (Stay tuned for a second book in the series – hoping to be released this spring!)

Empty Cereal Boxes

The Elementary School library is collecting empty cereal boxes to use for a craft. If you have any to provide, please drop them off at the school office.

If your child is in Kindergarten through Grade 4, he/she may be eligible for a $1200 Training and Education Savings Grant for their post-secondary education. Please see THIS DOCUMENT for more information.

Junior Youth is a ministry of Hope Lutheran Church for students in Grades 5 – 8, connecting students with Jesus and one another.

Parent Prayer

You are welcome to join other parents and our school administration to pray (even if you’ve never prayed before!). Please consider setting aside 30 minutes of your time at the beginning of each week to join us for Parent Prayer as we pray for our school, families, and community.

We’ll meet outside at the Elementary Campus by the main entrance.

Every Monday from 8:45 – 9:15 am (except for holidays).

Community Relations

Submissions are open for the January newsletter. If you have an achievement to celebrate or a story to share, please let us know. Perhaps your family will be involved in a service project this month – we’d love to showcase that!

Christmas Hampers

Thank you for your response to the call for donations to our Christmas Hampers. We now have 5 families to bless with children ranging from toddler to teen. Consider what your family enjoys eating and provide those non-perishable items for a family in need. If you’re unsure of what to donate consider these options:

granola bars
ramen
pasta & sauces
mayonnaise
whole-grain cereals
seaweed snacks
canned meat (tuna, salmon, chicken)
boxed crackers
Christmas candy/chocolate

Christmas wrapped collection boxes are at each Campus office for food collection as well as in each MS classroom. The collection will run until the morning of December 8th. For health and safety reasons please ensure all donated items are unopened and are not past their best before date. Donations of cash & gift cards can be taken to the school office for safekeeping.

Our Recipient Families have also identified some specific items they need. Please view this list for specific items you can provide.

Contributions are voluntary; participation hours are not given for these donations.
