Full-Time Inclusive Education Coordinator

Location: Hope Lutheran Christian School

Reports to: Principal

Status: Full-Time Leadership Position

Overview of the Role

The Inclusive Education Coordinator (IEC) provides leadership and supervision for our school’s Inclusive Education Program. As a vital member of the administrative team, the IEC works in close collaboration with the Principal, Vice Principals, Educational Assistants, Behaviour Analyst and Counsellor.

The successful candidate will ensure a comprehensive, cohesive, and Christ-centered learning support program across our K-8 community.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Vision Setting

  • Develop long-term and short-range plans for learning support services aligned with our mission of equipping students for Christ’s glory.
  • Participate in system-wide leadership team planning and school-wide initiatives.

Leadership & Staff Management

  • Oversee the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of learning support staff.
  • Coordinate job descriptions, individual assignments, and ongoing schedules for the Inclusive Education team.
  • Lead collaborative team meetings and professional development for Educational Assistants.
  • Act as a resource for staff to resolve issues and provide direction in their daily duties.

Administrative & External Coordination

  • Follow K-8 policies and procedures to ensure inclusive education for diverse needs.
  • Manage the Inclusive Education budget in collaboration with the Financial Administrator.
  • Review enrollment applications in partnership with the administrative team to ensure student success.
  • Coordinate external service providers (Educational Psychologists, SLPs, OTs, etc.).
  • Oversee the development of IEPs and SLPs, ensuring accurate documentation for SPED funding and 1701 records.

Direct Student & Family Support

  • Consult and network with external organizations (SCSBC, FISA, MECC).
  • Communicate and consult with parents of students with diverse needs.
  • Provide direct support when necessary, including student observations, standardized testing, and 1-1 or small group instruction.

Qualifications

Spiritual & Personal Attributes

  • Committed follower of Jesus Christ, actively involved in a local Christian church.
  • A heart for servant leadership, modeling courage, integrity, transparency, and humility.
  • Strict adherence to student and family confidentiality and a professional work ethic.

Professional Requirements

  • Valid BC Teaching Certificate.
  • Experience as a Resource Teacher or in a similar special education leadership role.
  • Thorough understanding of the BC Curriculum and MECC policy/funding categories.
  • Strong alignment with a preventative, proactive philosophy (early intervention and skill-building).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Classroom teaching experience.
  • Proven experience in designing and leading professional development.
