Pro-D Day – NO SCHOOL IN SESSION
Our School’s New Website
We are excited to announce that the school’s website has undergone an extensive makeover during the summer. We hope that it’ll bring a fresh look and make it more user friendly for our school community and other online users.
We invite you to explore the new website at https://school.hopelcs.ca/ and share it with your friends.
Parents should note the following pages that will be particularly important and useful:
- Under the Resources menu, you will be able to find our school calendars, Monday Notes, Parent participation opportunities and other general information such as school supplies and uniforms.
- The Absence Reporting form is now located under the Connect menu.
- Information about our Bursary Program for new students is found under the Admissions menu.
We hope you’ll enjoy using the new website.
After School Violin Lessons
Welcome back everyone! Ms. Allen is pleased to announce that this year we are planning to have violin lessons for students after school on Thursdays. We have classes for beginning students Kindergarten, Grade 1, and a Grade 2&3 combined class. There is also an ensemble class for those students who already play a stringed instrument. Classes are starting soon. The information for the class is here, and registration is here. Please email Ms. Allen () for more information, or if you have any questions.
Terry Fox Hometown Run – September 17 at Hyde Creek
We are kicking off our KM Club by inviting all families to join the Terry Fox Hometown Run as a school this Sunday, September 17 at Hyde Creek. This is a fun walk/run/bike event for people of all ages at distances of 2KM, 6KM, or 8KM. Students who complete this run can claim equivalent KM club laps! On the day, look for Mr. Lok on the front entrance steps of Hyde Creek Community Center at 9:30 am. Students are recommended to wear their Hope gym strip for the run.
See this link for more event information.
Individual Student Photo Day
Wednesday, September 20 will be Individual Student Photo day for both campuses. Students are to be dressed in formal uniform. Please review the school’s uniform policy in these two links:
Curriculum Evening September 21
The goal of the curriculum evening is that parents leave with a deeper sense of what will be going on in their child’s classroom this year. This year, we will be hosting one evening for both campuses (rather than two separate evenings). All parents will meet for an opening message from the administration at the Elementary Campus chapel. Following this, parents will be invited to attend the sessions that are of interest to them.
Classroom teachers will be in their rooms hosting two sessions, back to back. Specialty teachers will be available in their designated spaces to answer any questions parents may have regarding the Music, French, PE or EAL program.
Parents with students in multiple grades will be able to attend one session and then travel to the next session, even if it is located at a different campus.
The evening will start at 6:30 pm at the Elementary Campus chapel.
The evening will conclude at 8:00 pm.
Terry Fox School Fun Run
Our school will be participating in the Terry Fox Run again this year. Pledge sheets will be sent home soon. Fundraising is optional, but all students will participate in the run (date TBD). Let’s get our fundraising going and show everyone how we can “try like Terry”!
Together, we can all make a difference.
More information will be provided in the Monday Note next week. Look out for some exciting incentives to raise money!!
Chess Club
Mr. Anderson and Mr. Payan are continuing the online Chess Club following the success of the previous years. We will be using “ChessKid” (www.chesskid.com) as our online platform. This year, we will be hosting in-person chess tournaments throughout the year with schools across SD #43. We are aiming to start our online weekly games September 19th (Tuesday) in preparation for our first in-person tournament on October 18th.
The weekly seasonal games are for Hope LCS students in Grades 2-5 and will occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3:45 – 4:45 pm. Unfortunately, supervision during after school care will not be regularly available. As a result, students will need to play at home. However, students that sign up will have access to lessons, puzzles, or practice anytime with their account.
If your child(ren) wants to get involved with the chess club to improve their skill, learn tournament etiquette, participate in the SD #43 tournaments, or can commit to playing the online weekly games during the aforementioned time, please use THIS LINK to sign up.
Those that are interested will receive another letter with more information shortly.
Yearbook 2022/23
We have a number of year books from last year at the elementary school and that are available on a first come first serve basis for $25.
Hope Community Event
Hi Hope Families,
Come on out for a night of football, faith, and community building! We have secured a special group rate for the BC Lions’ game against the Calgary Stampeders on October 20th (7:00pm). We chose this night because it is the BC Lions’ Faith and Family Night event.
The special event will include meeting a few players and the team’s chaplain after the football game. Please see this Information Document to assist with how to purchase tickets and THIS LINK to purchase the tickets.
This is a great opportunity for our school members and church members to meet and strengthen our Hope community. Feel free to invite your friends and family to join us.
For planning purposes please purchase tickets by Friday, October 6.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Chris Anderson at
Look forward to seeing everyone there!
Scholastic Book Club is Back!
We are delighted to announce the return of the Scholastic Book Club to our school!
The Scholastic Book Club offers a wide range of age-appropriate books, from picture books for our youngest readers to thrilling novels for our older students. By participating in the Scholastic Book Club, you not only provide your child with the gift of reading but also support our school in earning valuable resources such as books and educational materials.
Here’s how the Scholastic Book Club works:
- Browse the Catalogue: Your child will bring home a Scholastic Book Club catalogue filled with a diverse selection of books. Click this link for the digital version. Take some time to explore the options together and choose the titles that your child is interested in.
- Place Your Order: Place your order online by visiting Scholastic Book Club Website. Use our school Class Code: RC131640 and select ‘Ship to School’ as the shipping method. When the total SCHOOL order reaches $40, the order will ship for free to the school.
- Delivery to School: The books will be delivered to our school. We will coordinate the distribution of the books to your child’s classroom.
- Enjoy Reading: Your child will have the joy of reading new books and discovering exciting stories!
We encourage you to engage with your child about their book choices and to explore the catalogue together. Thank you for your continued support in promoting literacy and a love for reading among our students. If you have any questions or need assistance with the ordering process, please feel free to contact Mrs. Kang (). Happy reading!
