We want to shine a spotlight on one of the most valuable jobs on race day: Counters and Cleanup. This role makes sure every runner is accurately counted towards their final reward, and that our space is left in great shape afterward – and right now, it’s one of our most underutilized volunteer spots. Our organizers have been covering the gap, and we’d love more hands on deck.

Starting now, volunteering for Counters and Cleanup earns your child’s class TRIPLE pizza points — 3 points instead of the usual 1 — for every run.
How Pizza Points work: Parents can earn points across all 15 runs for their kid’s class, and the class with the most points at the end wins a pizza lunch. Points are earned by either volunteering or participating in the run and collecting stamps. Every point helps, and Counters and Cleanup points now count three times as much, making this a great way to give your child’s class a real boost.
Pro Tip: Earn up to 5 Pizza Points in one day!
Here’s how to maximize your contribution at a single run:
- Help with Set Up → 1 point
- Run or volunteer during the run → 1 point
- Help with Counting and Cleanup at the end → 3 points
That’s up to 5 points for your child’s class, just by arriving a little early and staying a little after the finish.

Library Volunteers
- Volunteer opportunities are available at the elementary school library, for anyone who is comfortable using computers. Please contact Ms. Francescini, or drop by the library so she can explain the jobs.
Fruit Program
- Thanks to a Feeding Futures grant from the BC government, we are able to offer a daily selection of Fruits and Vegetables for Grab and Go at each of the campus offices. Kids are delighting in stopping on a regular basis to pick up an apple, banana or maybe even a strawberry!
- We could use some adult volunteers to help manage this program. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Emily Reilly, at . Many hands will make light work!
Cone Set Up Needed at Elementary Campus
We are looking for an individual or a few to help with setting up cones in the morning before 8:30 AM. This typically takes 15 minutes and would be ideal for those parents who need volunteer hours and need to drop off at before school care. Any parent(s) are welcome to help with this task and it would be greatly appreciated. There will be a training set up to know where to place cones and signs. Orange Shirt Day – Tuesday, September 29
Our school will be recognizing Orange Shirt Day on Tuesday, September 29. On this day, students are invited to dress down from their regular school uniform by wearing an orange shirt in honour and support of Indigenous residential school survivors.
Uniform Exemption: Students wearing an orange shirt may wear non-uniform bottoms.
Standard Uniform: Students who choose not to participate should arrive in their standard daily school uniform.

The Well
The Well is our student-operated Middle School snack store, offering a variety of snacks and treats for students to purchase during lunchtime. The store is open every Thursday during lunch and provides students with a fun opportunity to enjoy a snack while developing valuable skills such as responsibility, teamwork, and customer service.
Please note that The Well is intended as a snack option and is not a replacement for lunch. Students are expected to bring or have access to a regular lunch each day.
2027-2028 Kindergarten Sibling Enrolment
Our first round of kindergarten intake for the 2027/28 school year is soon approaching! Each year, spaces are set aside for kindergarten siblings of current Hope Lutheran students.
On Thursday, October 1st, a direct email communication will be sent to current families that have already indicated having a child born in the year 2022. These families will be provided a Kindergarten Sibling Application Package to be completed and submitted directly to by Wednesday, October 21st. At the time of application, no fees are required to be submitted. Should a family be offered a placement for Kindergarten 2027/28, fees will be collected during the student re-enrolment period in February 2027. More specifics will be provided closer to the re-enrolment period next year.
All prospective kindergarten siblings are required to attend a Family Admission Interview and a Kindergarten Observation Session in order to be considered. This year, these events will take place on November 2nd, November 10th, November 16th and November 19th.
If you have a child born in the year 2022 and are unsure if the School Office is aware, please reach out directly to our Registrar, Ms. Kia Mansoor at as soon as possible. This will help ensure our ability to include all eligible kindergarten siblings in the first intake round.

Terry Fox Run
The Terry Fox Run will be taking place this year on Friday, October 9th. Students will listen to a message from an ambassador from the Terry Fox Foundation in the chapel that morning and then participate in a run immediately after at McLean Park. This will be a dress down day for students – they can wear red & white and are asked to bring $2 to their classroom teacher. Our school has a goal of raising $3500. PI Academy – Badminton Classes
Welcome back to another exciting school year!

Junior Youth is a ministry of Hope Lutheran Church for students in Grades 5 – 8, connecting students with Jesus and one another. Tips for parents for a healthy back-to-school season
As children head back to school, parents face the familiar challenge of managing busy schedules, school routines and inevitably, health concerns.
Help set the stage for a healthy school year with Fraser Health’s Healthy Back to School Guide.
The guide provides information on a variety of ways to keep children healthy during a school year. For instance, fostering healthy routines for sleep, mealtimes and physical activity can greatly support your child’s health and wellness.
Staying healthy during the school year is also about protecting children from illnesses that can spread quickly in classrooms. It is important to make sure children wash their hands properly, and to keep them home if they are feeling unwell.
Another way to protect your child’s health is to ensure their immunizations are up to date. Vaccines help prevent several serious illnesses and infectious diseases, for example, measles. Please check that you (if born in or after 1970) and your children have received at least two doses of a measles-containing vaccine. Find out how to check your immunization records here.
Vaccines are available at many pharmacy locations, physician offices, and at all public health units.

Application for Class Liaison
The Class Liaison is an important volunteer role in each grade at Hope Lutheran School.
The main responsibilities of a Class Liaison include:
- Email communication with parents
- Classroom support
- Parent communication and engagement
- Teacher support and appreciation initiatives
- Sharing PTL messages and updates with parents in your grade
- Responding to teacher requests and helping coordinate parent volunteers for class parties, special events, and other classroom activities
- Serving as a point of contact between the classroom teacher, parents, and the PTL
If you are an active and organized person, can communicate in a timely and appropriate manner, and would enjoy helping connect teachers, parents, and the PTL, we encourage you to apply and express your interest.
This is a volunteer position, and the hours spent in this role will count toward your volunteer hours requirement.

Stories of Impact
Did being at Hope during the 2025-26 school year impact your family? Stories of impact are important pieces to share as they edify our community and build up the body of Christ.
God has given each of us a story. You may not think it’s very dramatic but every story can be used to connect with someone else. Share your story of the impact you’ve received from being at Hope. It could be any number of ways:
- Being supported during an unexpected circumstance or crisis
- Seeing positive character develop in your child
- Coming into a personal relationship with Jesus as a result the gospel message heard at Hope Lutheran Christian School
- Transitioning from a place of stagnation to a place of flourishing
You never know how your story could impact the life of another. Email and your story could be a feature page in our Annual Report.
The Chosen Ministry at Hope
This is a gathering (every two weeks) of Hope congregation members and school parents (and guests of both) to view each one of the 48+ episodes of the video series The Chosen https://watch.thechosen.tv/ followed by discussion. The Chosen video series is deeply anchored in Scripture with some room for the other pieces that, when added, make it real and understandable and a joy to view. This group meets twice a month on Wednesday evenings or Saturday mornings.
