KM Club
- The KM Club needs your help! We have three volunteer opportunities on Tuesday, September 15th at 8:45 AM. We will meet right after morning drop-off at the “Connection Room” beside the Chapel to assemble the wristbands, and prepare all necessary materials for the upcoming Fall KM Club. This will take approximately 2h, and your help will be invaluable in enabling this popular program.

Fall Carnival – Saturday, September 19th, 2026
Our 2nd annual Fall Carnival is taking place on Saturday, September 19th – pony rides, bouncy castles, games, prizes. All families are welcome and friends too. This is a great event to get to know other school families and get a jump on those parent participation hours.
Many volunteers are needed to assist to make this another successful community event.

Library Volunteers
Volunteer opportunities are available at the elementary school library for anyone who is comfortable using computers. Please contact Ms. Francescini, or drop by the library so she can explain the jobs.
Fruit Program
Thanks to a Feeding Futures grant from the BC government, we are able to offer a daily selection of Fruits and Vegetables for Grab and Go at each of the campus offices. Kids are delighting in stopping on a regular basis to pick up an apple, banana or maybe even a strawberry!
We could use some adult volunteers to help manage this program. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Emily Reilly, at . Many hands will make light work!
Cone Set Up Needed at Elementary Campus
We are looking for an individual or a few to help with setting up cones in the morning before 8:30 AM. This typically takes 15 minutes and would be ideal for those parents who need volunteer hours and need to drop off at before school care. Any parent(s) are welcome to help with this task and it would be greatly appreciated. There will be a training set up to know where to place cones and signs. Please contact Jennifer Watson if you are interested.
Photo Day
Wednesday, September 23, is Photo Day! Each HLCS student will have their photo taken. Students are to be dressed in formal uniform pieces, even if they have PE that day.
See below formal uniform pieces, as per the Gr. 6-8 Uniform Policy:

GIRLS:
- Out blouse: short sleeve or long sleeve with HLCS logo
- Cardigan or pullover with HLCS logo
- Kilt: red tartan (modesty shorts to be worn under kilt)
- Black knee high socks or blacks tights (must have feet – no leggings)
- Solid black shoes (no coloured logos or markings)
BOYS:
- Oxford shirt: short sleeve or long sleeve with HLCS logo

Curriculum Evening: September 24
This year, we are looking forward to connecting with our families at our annual Curriculum Evening event, scheduled for Thursday, September 24th. The doors will open at 5:45 PM so we can start promptly at 6:00 PM. We will begin as a whole group in the gym before parents can attend their child’s classroom presentation. We will offer 2 sessions per grade.
The Well
The Well is our student-operated Middle School snack store, offering a variety of snacks and treats for students to purchase during lunchtime. The store is open every Thursday during lunch and provides students with a fun opportunity to enjoy a snack while developing valuable skills such as responsibility, teamwork, and customer service.
Please note that The Well is intended as a snack option and is not a replacement for lunch. Students are expected to bring or have access to a regular lunch each day.

KM Club Announcement
Kilometre Club is back!
This Fall we are, again, conducting a 5-week run/walk around McLean Park starting Monday, September 21st and going until October 28th from 3:20 – 3:50 PM. The events will take place immediately after school, with warmup starting at 3:10 PM and runs starting at 3:20 PM sharp at McLean Park.
Participants must register by Wednesday, September 16th using THIS ONLINE FORM
At the end of the term, runners can earn tokens based on the total amount of KM run.
While the students earn medals, parents have the opportunity to earn their kids’ class a free Pizza Lunch at the end of the term!
Parents can earn participation points by either volunteering at the KM club and/or running/walking a minimum of three laps during the club. The class with the highest parent participation points at the end of the term will receive a free pizza lunch!
Km Club is open to all students, staff, parents, caretakers, and daycare children. Parents or caretakers must be at McLean Park to supervise their child/children during Km Club. However, while supervising your child you may want to run or walk yourself, or you can volunteer.
Volunteering for Km Club counts towards volunteer hours and there are volunteer opportunities before, during, and after KM Club. Please see the volunteer descriptions below and the sign-up link to register for volunteer opportunities.

Terry Fox Run
The Terry Fox Run will be taking place this year on Friday, October 9th. Students will listen to a message from an ambassador from the Terry Fox Foundation in the chapel that morning and then participate in a run immediately after at McLean Park. This will be a dress down day for students – they can wear red & white and are asked to bring $2 to their classroom teacher. Our school has a goal of raising $3500. Hope Lutheran Junior Youth
Starting Saturday, September 26, Hope’s Junior Youth Program is back with weekly meetings from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at Hope Lutheran’s elementary campus.
Students in grades 5-8 can come join us for fun, games, devotion, and community connection! We are excited to see each of you there!

Application for Class Liaison
The Class Liaison is an important volunteer role in each grade at Hope Lutheran School.
The main responsibilities of a Class Liaison include:
- Email communication with parents
- Classroom support
- Parent communication and engagement
- Teacher support and appreciation initiatives
- Sharing PTL messages and updates with parents in your grade
- Responding to teacher requests and helping coordinate parent volunteers for class parties, special events, and other classroom activities
- Serving as a point of contact between the classroom teacher, parents, and the PTL
If you are an active and organized person, can communicate in a timely and appropriate manner, and would enjoy helping connect teachers, parents, and the PTL, we encourage you to apply and express your interest.
This is a volunteer position, and the hours spent in this role will count toward your volunteer hours requirement.

Stories of Impact
Did being at Hope during the 2025-26 school year impact your family? Stories of impact are important pieces to share as they edify our community and build up the body of Christ.
God has given each of us a story. You may not think it’s very dramatic but every story can be used to connect with someone else. Share your story of the impact you’ve received from being at Hope. It could be any number of ways:
- Being supported during an unexpected circumstance or crisis
- Seeing positive character develop in your child
- Coming into a personal relationship with Jesus as a result the gospel message heard at Hope Lutheran Christian School
- Transitioning from a place of stagnation to a place of flourishing
You never know how your story could impact the life of another. Email and your story could be a feature page in our Annual Report.
The Chosen Ministry at Hope
This is a gathering (every two weeks) of Hope congregation members and school parents (and guests of both) to view each one of the 48+ episodes of the video series The Chosen https://watch.thechosen.tv/ followed by discussion.The Chosen video series is deeply anchored in Scripture with some room for the other pieces that, when added, make it real and understandable and a joy to view. This group meets twice a month on Wednesday evenings or Saturday mornings.
