KM Club Volunteers – Spring Session!
KM Club needs volunteers! Thank you to all who already signed up to help out in this popular event.
We are in urgent need of setup and counting (before and after the run) volunteers – this is a great opportunity to collect volunteer hours for the year and support this popular event KM even if you cannot be present during the run itself (setup) or want to give your kids a little extra playtime after the run (counters)!

Parent Help Needed – Wizard of Oz Musical Stage Set Up
We are looking for parents to help us build our stage in preparation for the Musical. Stage Set Up will occur May 5th (after school). We do not have tools to supply, so please bring your own electric drills, tools, gloves. Please contact for more details.
Cone Set Up Needed at Elementary Campus
We are looking for an individual or a few to help with setting up cones in the morning before 8:30 AM. This typically takes 15 minutes and would be ideal for those parents who need volunteer hours and need to drop off at before school care. Any parent(s) are welcome to help with this task and it would be greatly appreciated. There will be a training set up to know where to place cones and signs. Please contact Jennifer Watson if you are interested.

Scholastic Book Fair with Special Guests
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Hope! We invite you to visit us in the foyer from Tuesday, April 21 to Thursday, April 23, between 3:00 and 4:00 PM each day. Come explore a wide variety of books available for purchase. Every sale helps support and grow our classroom and school libraries.
We accept credit cards, debit cards, and cash. The March/April digital flyer is also available online. Simply click the link and enter our Class Code: RC131640 at checkout.
On April 22, we are excited to welcome special guests, author Neal De Jeus, and Easy Daysies. Light refreshments will be provided during this time. Gr. 1-8 Spelling Bee – April 29
Please refer to the school‑wide announcement sent out on Friday regarding our upcoming Spellathon and school‑wide Spelling Bee. Class Spellathon activities will take place on April 23 and 24.

Annual Sunflower Growers – Hope Lutheran Church & School
It’s another year and the weather is right to start your sunflower seeds. Pick them up in the office. Email Pamela Williams to enter the competition for tallest, biggest flower, and new this year, a picture of wildlife or pet life visiting your flower. You get five seeds, plant one or plant all. Also included in the seed package is a couple little cosmos seeds to keep your sunflower happy. If you have any questions please email Pamela.
PI Academy – Spring Badminton
Hello Hope Parents! We hope you had a fantastic spring break and a return to the prime season for badminton!
This spring, we will focus on specific technical racket skills, including strategy, for our middle school students. As an added bonus announcement, this April, our middle school badminton team will be participating again in the CESS as defending champions! The very best of luck to them!

Hyde Creek Fry Release & Tour Day – Saturday, April 18
Book a guided tour of the Hyde Creek Education Centre & Hatchery and help release chum fry into Hyde Creek.
- Tour Times: 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Guided tour approx. 20 minutes.

Below is a list of dental resources, from Fraser Health, for the 2025/2026 school year.
Even if you are a family that does not have private dental insurance, you may be eligible to apply for the following programs.
- Healthy Kids Program – children under the age of 19 years may be eligible for basic dental services.
- Canadian Dental Care Plan – children under the age of 18 years who do not have access to a private dental insurance plan.
- UBC Dentistry – offers a free dental program for children 12 years and younger. Please see the attached application form.

Community Relations
Community Event – April 22nd
A Scholastic Book Fair is happening from April 21-23 at our Elementary Campus.
Wednesday, April 22nd will feature an after-school community event where we’ll have our very own TOC’s – Mrs. Comeau and Mr. De Geus – promoting their products. Mr. De Geus will be signing and selling copies of his debut novel, The Corner Lot, A Young Girl’s Quest and Mrs. Comeau, creator of Easy Daysies magnetic visual schedulers (see January 2026 Hope Herald), will be on hand to assist parents in choosing the best organisation products for their family needs. Plus, a percentage of all Easy Daysies sales will be donated to the school.
We’ll even have a CEREAL BAR for the kids. This is a community event you won’t want to miss.

Hope Lutheran Church News
Hope Lutheran Church wishes to support Christian post-secondary education by offering a bursary of up to $1000 to young adults who have had a connection to Hope Lutheran Church or School and are accepted to a post secondary Christian institution such as Trinity Western University in Langley, BC; Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute in Camrose, AB or other institutions offering Christian Studies. Christian Studies in Canadian Universities, Canadian Bible Colleges.

The Chosen Ministry at Hope Lutheran Church
Hope Church is facilitating two community groups based on The Chosen series with each group gathering twice per month from January-May to watch the videos and have discussion.
- Group #1’s next meeting date is Wednesday, April 22 from 7:00-9:30 PM at a home in Port Coquitlam. Contact for details.
- Group #2’s next meeting date is Saturday, April 25 from 9:00-11:00 AM in the church.
