Extreme Weather Closures
With the possibility of snowy weather coming, please note the following important information regarding Hope Lutheran Christian School closures due to extreme/inclement weather:
- The decision to close (full day or partial day/late start) the School due to extreme weather will be made by 7:00 AM, on the day of the closure, so families can make alternate arrangements.
- The announcement will be posted as quickly as possible on our Facebook page and our school website. Do not phone the school, as staff will not be available.
- The decision will be made taking into consideration the safety of our families and staff, and the School’s ability to operate normally, and will be based on the best information available at the time.
- Any extreme weather closures will automatically apply to both campuses, and Schola Bohemia – Before and After School Care.
- Hope Lutheran’s extreme weather closures may not be the same as the local School Districts’ closures.
- Winter weather can change quickly, therefore, when the School remains open, all decisions regarding travel to and from the School are the responsibility of each family.

KM Club Announcement
Kilometre Club is back!
This Spring we are, again, conducting a 7-week run/walk around McLean Park starting Wed. April 8th and going until Fri., May 15th from 3:20pm – 3:50pm. The events will take place immediately after school, with warmup starting at 3:10pm and runs starting at 3:30pm sharp at McLean Park. Participants must register using THIS ONLINE FORM by Wednesday, March 26th. At the end of the term, runners can earn medals and trophies based on the total amount of KM run.
While the students earn medals, parents have the opportunity to earn their kids’ class a free Pizza Lunch at the end of the term!
Parents can earn participation points by either volunteering at the KM club and/or running/walking a minimum of three laps during the club. The class with the highest parent participation points at the end of the term will receive a free pizza lunch!
Km Club is open to all students, staff, parents, caretakers, and Before and After School care children. Parents or caretakers must be at McLean Park to supervise their child/children during Km Club. However, while supervising your child you may want to run or walk yourself, or you can volunteer.
Volunteering for Km Club counts towards volunteer hours and there are volunteer opportunities before, during, and after KM Club. Please see the sign-up link, in the Volunteer section of the Monday Note, to register for volunteer opportunities.
Please contact Maik Hassel at 604.315.8446 or with any questions.
Basketball Student Coaches
Our Grade 7 and 8 students have an exciting opportunity to apply to serve as student coaches for our Grade 3/4 teams at the upcoming Basketball Friendship Tournament hosted by Our Lady of Assumption Catholic School on April 23–24. This leadership role allows older students to mentor younger players, model good sportsmanship, and represent Hope Lutheran in a positive way. Mr Shutsa has given students more details. Interested students are invited to submit a short paragraph application by Tuesday, March 31 at 8:30am to Mr. Shutsa and Mr. Mayer.
