Volunteer Opportunities – 2025/2026 School Year
KM Club Needs Your Help
We are looking for two volunteers who are willing to spend 2 hours after drop off to help us assemble the reward tokens for the fall KM Club run.
We will be meeting on Wednesday, the 26th, at 8:45 AM (right after drop off), in the school library.
Interested? Please contact Maik Hassel at 604-315-8446 (Text or WhatsApp preferred) or
Library Volunteers
Volunteer opportunities available at the elementary school library, for anyone who is comfortable using computers. Please contact Ms. Francescini, or drop by the library so she can explain the jobs.
Fruit Program
Thanks to a Feeding Futures grant from the BC government, we are able to offer a daily selection of Fruits and Vegetables for Grab and Go at each of the campus offices. If your child feels they could use an extra snack during the day, encourage them to walk by and see what we’re offering!
We could use some adult volunteers to help manage this program. Duties would involve washing and portioning fruit for service, approximately 15-30 mins at the beginning of each day. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Emily Reilly, at . Many hands will make light work!
Cone Set Up Needed at Elementary Campus
We are looking for an individual or a few to help with setting up cones in the morning before 8:30 am. This typically takes 15 minutes and would be ideal for those parents who need volunteer hours and need to drop off at before school care. Any parent(s) are welcome to help with this task and it would be greatly appreciated. There will be a training set up to know where to place cones and signs. Please contact Jennifer Watson if you are interested.

Hope Lutheran Christian School Society
After a few years of planning and discussions, this past Spring the members of Hope Lutheran Church voted unanimously in favour of creating the new Hope Lutheran Christian School Society. This society was formally incorporated on November 7. We are grateful to God for his guidance in this process, and for the many people who worked on the details of how this new society should be established.
What does this mean?
In the short term there will be no change; the church society remains the authority for the school. We are in the process of obtaining charitable status for the new school society, which should be in place by the summer of 2026. At that point the school’s authority will transfer to the new school society.
In the medium term this change in governance allows the school to have a more dedicated board to address concerns and plan for the future of the school. The school and the church will still be closely connected, and we will continue to look for ways to build connections between our respective communities.
Advent Season and Resources
Advent is a deeply important church season—a time for joyful anticipation and reflection as we await the Saviour’s birth. With this in mind, our staff is pleased to offer our school families the gift of time during this often hectic month. Throughout December, teachers reduce the amount of homework to encourage moments of rest and togetherness. We hope this intentional reduction allows your family the space to gather, pause, and focus on the spiritual preparation of Advent.
You can stop by the office for a printed copy of a family devotional from Lutheran Laymen’s League of Canada. Also included are the following links from Focus on the Family to enrich your family’s reflection:

Christmas Hamper Drive
Our annual Christmas hamper drive has now started and Christmas wrapped collection boxes have been placed at each campus reception area.
The Christmas season is a time that emphasizes joy and celebration for most but, for those struggling, the need is felt more profoundly. We take this opportunity as a school to rally around these families and contribute to hampers to help make Christmas a joyful time for all. Our recipients are extremely grateful for the support:
“Just the fact that I feel seen and cared for by you means so much to me. The support and kindness I’ve felt from you is something I’m deeply grateful for.”
“Thank you for the effort and the continual support for our family”
This year, four recipient families within our own Hope school/church community have been identified.
- Please view this 2025 contributions list which includes general items as well as items the families have indicated as a need. Please put your name beside the items that you are providing.
- Donations of cash & gift cards can be taken to the school office for safekeeping.
- Contributions are voluntary; volunteer hours are not given for these donations.
- For health and safety reasons please ensure all donated items are new and unwrapped. (If food item, please ensure it is not past expiry date).
- Donations will be collected for 2 weeks – Monday, November 24 until Monday, December 8, 2025.
Thank you for your help & support. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Klym at .
