Cone Set Up Needed at Elementary Campus
We are looking for an individual or a few to help with setting up cones in the morning before 8:30 am. This typically takes 15 minutes and would be ideal for those parents who need volunteer hours and need to drop off at before school care. With 164 days remaining this would equal 41 hours – so with two people/families sharing, this could equal your total volunteer hours for the school year!! Any parent(s) are welcome to help with this task and it would be greatly appreciated. There will be a training set up to know where to place cones and signs. Please contact Jennifer Watson if you are interested.
KM Club
KM Club needs volunteers! The success of this popular event depends on the help of our parents, and it is a great opportunity to collect volunteer hours for the year while supervising your children during the run. Volunteer descriptions and registration can be found in THIS LINK.
Hot Lunch Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities are available for the upcoming Hot Lunch dates. On Hot Lunch dates, volunteers are needed to assist our Hot Lunch provider, Fuel Catering, and distribute lunches to the classes.

Individual Student Photo Day – September 17
Wednesday, September 17 will be Individual Student Photo day for both elementary and middle school students. Photos will be taking place at the Elementary School campus.
Students are to be dressed in formal uniform.
Please review the school’s uniform policy in these two links:
Your child(ren) will be coming home that day with QR Code flyers which contain webcodes for accessing your child(ren)’s photo gallery for ordering. If you lose the webcode, no problem! Parents, you can visit the Mountain West Studios portal at mountainwest.ca/support-for-families to request login codes.
Curriculum Evening – September 18
The goal of the curriculum evening is that parents leave with a deeper sense of what will be going on in their child’s classroom this year. We will be hosting one evening for both campuses. All parents will meet for an opening message from the administration at the Elementary Campus chapel. Following this, parents will be invited to attend the sessions that are of interest to them.
Classroom teachers will be in their rooms hosting two sessions, back to back. Specialty teachers will be available in their designated spaces to answer any questions parents may have regarding the Music, French, PE or EAL program.
Parents with students in multiple grades will be able to attend one session and then travel to the next session, even if it is located at a different campus.
The evening will start at 6:00 pm at the Elementary Campus chapel.
The evening will conclude at 7:30 pm.
Sports Interest Form
We are getting very excited for a wonderful year of Physical Education and keeping active here at Hope Lutheran!
As we look forward, there are many wonderful sports teams we are able to enter!
What we would like from you is to speak with you children in Grades 4-7 and see what they may be interested in. This is not a firm commitment, it simply helps us gauge interest, register accordingly and reach out first to those families when we are deciding on our rosters.
While most sports in the competitions are for Grades 6 and 7, there are some exceptions that include younger grades. We are also permitted to ask Grade 4s and 5s in order to fill out a team if we have lower numbers.
This is unrelated to the LEST Tournament that Middle School attends in Washington state. Those teams will be chosen separately.
Please submit the form at the link below:
Please fill out one entry per child by Friday September 26, 2025 at 3:00 pm.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to .
KM Club Announcement
Kilometre Club is back!
This fall we are, again, conducting a 6-week run/walk around McLean Park starting Monday, September 15 and going until Wednesday, October 22 from 3:20 – 3:50 pm. The events will take place immediately after school, with warmup starting at 3:10 pm and runs starting at 3:30 pm at McLean Park. Participants must register by Thursday, September 11 using this online form: KM CLUB REGISTRATION
At the end of the year, runners will receive “Milestone Tokens” based on the total amount of KM run.
While the students earn “Milestone Tonkens”, parents have the opportunity to earn their kids’ class a free Pizza Lunch at the end of the term!
Parents can earn participation points by volunteering at the KM club or running/walking a minimum of three laps during the club. The class with the highest parent participation points at the end of the term will receive a free pizza lunch!
Km Club is open to all students, staff, parents, caretakers, and daycare children. Parents or caretakers must be at McLean Park to supervise their child/children during Km Club. However, while supervising your child you may want to run or walk yourself, or you can volunteer.
Volunteering for Km Club counts towards volunteer hours and there are volunteer opportunities before, during, and after KM Club. Please see the volunteer descriptions below and the sign-up link to register for volunteer opportunities.
Please contact Maik Hassel at 604.315.8446 or with any questions.

Terry Fox Run and Dress Down
On Friday, October 3, 2025, we will be running for Terry Fox! This is a dress down day where students are invited to bring $2 (for Cancer Research) and wear their Canadian colours (red and white). Please ensure that students are able to run comfortably in what they choose, and dress for the weather.
In 1980, Terry had a dream of a world without cancer. Forty-five years later, Terry’s Marathon of Hope lives on. If we work together, we can make such a difference in the lives of so many. Please help fund critical cancer research in Canada by supporting our participation in the 2025 Terry Fox School Run. Crossing the finish line means hope for everyone with cancer. Together, we can Finish It.
It’s the 45th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope. Therefore our school fundraising goal will be $4500! We’re super excited to take part! Please support our student’s fundraising efforts and donate here today or by using the pledge sheets which will be sent home on Thursday, September 18. Fundraising is optional, but all students will participate in the run at 9:45 am on Friday, October 3, 2025.
Scholastic Book Club is Back!
We are delighted to announce the return of the Scholastic Book Club to our school!
The Scholastic Book Club offers a wide range of age-appropriate books, from picture books for our youngest readers to thrilling novels for our older students. By participating in the Scholastic Book Club, you not only provide your child with the gift of reading but also support our school in earning valuable resources such as books and educational materials.
Here’s how the Scholastic Book Club works:
- Browse the Catalogue: Your child will bring home a Scholastic Book Club catalogue filled with a diverse selection of books. Click this link for the digital version. Take some time to explore the options together and choose the titles that your child is interested in.
- Place Your Order: Place your order online by visiting Scholastic Book Club Website. Use our school Class Code: RC131640 and select ‘Ship to School’ as the shipping method. When the total SCHOOL order reaches $40, the order will ship for free to the school.
- Delivery to School: The books will be delivered to our school. We will coordinate the distribution of the books to your child’s classroom.
- Enjoy Reading: Your child will have the joy of reading new books and discovering exciting stories!
We encourage you to engage with your child about their book choices and to explore the catalogue together. Thank you for your continued support in promoting literacy and a love for reading among our students. If you have any questions or need assistance with the ordering process, please feel free to contact Mrs. Kang (). Happy reading!
